Joan is an accomplished cook with over 25 years experience, having taken numerous cooking classes over the years taught by some of the finest chefs in the Chicago area, including Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill and Topolobampo; Michael Foley of Printer's Row; Gale Gand, nationally acclaimed pastry chef; and Monique Hooker of Monique’s Café.
Joan believes in the benefits of seasonal cooking. Using products at their peak of freshness ensures exceptional quality and value. Fall and winter produce lend themselves perfectly to heartier comfort foods, while summer produce is ideal for salads and lighter fare.
Joan’s first passion is cooking and her second is the Deerfield Farmers Market which she helped establish and has managed since its inception in 1995. Clients of It’s Dinner Thyme! will reap the benefits of the fresh local produce found at the farmers markets!
Joan is a member of the United States Personal Chef Association and certified by the State of Illinois in food safety and sanitation.
